1960's bar cabinet by Roger De Winter
1960's bar cabinet by Roger De Winter
Modernist bar cabinet by renowned Belgian Architect Roger De Winter.
De Winter (1923–2001) was a Belgian architect and furniture designer. During his studies in architecture and urban planning in Brussels in the 1940s, he surrounded himself with some of the most important Belgian modernists of the twentieth century. Over the course of his career, he designed residential homes and commercial buildings in the greater area around Vilvoorde, Mechelen, and Brussels - many of which have achieved cult status in the urban landscape.
Between 1958 and 1975, he also worked as a furniture designer, seamlessly blending architectural principles with furniture design. His work is characterized by clean lines, refined proportions, and the use of high-quality materials.
This sleek bar cabinet, designed in the 1960s, exemplifies his modernist vision. Elevated on chrome legs, the minimalist piece is a true icon of Belgian Modernism. The vibrant blue interior of the bar contrasts sharply with the warm wood tones of the exterior, creating a striking and elegant visual statement.
We discovered this rare bar cabinet, together with a sideboard and wardrobe by RDW, in the architect’s home of O. De Pelsemaeker, located in Woluwe-Saint-Lambert.
The piece is in vintage condition with some imperfections, repairs in the veneer and slight discolouration of the wood.
