French low table in iron and slate

Rare french low table in forged iron and slate. The top is organically shaped, placed on square iron base. The base shows patina in some areas. Origin: Southern France, early to mid 20th century.
Height 38 cm. Length 120 cm. Depth ~54 cm.

Slate is a metamorphic rock of sedimentary origin. Is mainly composed of quartz, sericite and minerals of the chlorite group. Has been used as a construction material since the ancient Egyptians.
